Lanzarote is well known for its quality and variety of beaches, and now, Playa Grande has obtained the recognition of Ecobeach, due to its environmental quality and which was given on the World Oceans Day.

This flag is given by the Technical Asotiation of Waste Management, Street Cleaning and Environment (ATEGRUS) and recognizes ecology and sustainability. They focus on the quality of the beaches from an environmental, touristic and sustainable point of view. In this beach we have the positive features of a natural beach in harmony with improvements for tourists. Apart from the lifeguard and vigilance services, it also has public toilets, cleaning, accessibility and environmental education programs. As to the accessibility services, the beach has amphibious chairs for people with reduced mobility.

In this beautiful beach, apart from the usual cleaning and maintenance works, a floating water park has been installed, meeting the accesibility requirements with sustainable materials for the environment. Whatsmore, other sport activities take place at this beach, and others dedicated to spread the environmental richness of the area.

Playa Grande is the most visited beach in Tias municipality for its accessibility and services, like sports area, games, lifeguard, boat rent, umbrellas, hammocks and Red Cross. It is located in Avenida de las Playas, where you can find a great variety of shops and restaurants. It's a wide and long comfortable beach, perfect for families with calmed water for children.

Moreover, in one of the main entrances to Avenida de las Playas a sculpture has just been opened, on the same day of World Environment Day, paying homage to the fish species that inhabit the Canary Islands. This work, of 12 meters high, is part of the series "Juguetes del Viento", by César Manrique.
